Pedestrians and e-scooter riders are clashing.

Two days after the e-scooter footpath ban took effect, three personal mobility device (PMD) riders got into a heated argument with a pedestrian after she allegedly filmed and took photos of them riding on a footpath.

On Nov. 7, one of the PMD riders uploaded a video of the altercation onto her Twitter account.

Woman took videos and photos of PMD riders

The Twitterer wrote that the woman had apparently been filming and taking photos of her and her two friends.

They were riding their PMDs on a footpath when the woman started filming them.

"Okay guys, say cheese. This aunty take our video, take our photo, walk too fast.

I'm just doing my job. What is this?"

In her caption, the PMD rider also warned other riders to be careful as pedestrians would go out of their way to take videos and pictures of them:

"To PMD riders people please beware of people who walk at the pathway they might taking our picture/videos & complaining, before you want to stomp us we stomp you first dog, such a pity this kind of people."

As of the time of writing, the video had over 1,200 retweets.

Lied about deleting the videos and photos

The rider also uploaded a subsequent video of the squabble.

In this clip, the rider said:

"She said she took (the photos and videos). She said she would delete them but she didn't. What is this?"

The woman then approached the rider and tried to snatch the camera away from her, but failed to do so.

It is unclear where the argument took place and what the outcome was in the end.

Rules and regulations of the ban

Since Nov. 5 2019, e-scooters can only be used on cycling paths and park connector networks (PCNs).

However, an advisory period from now until Dec. 31 is in place so that e-scooter riders will have time to adjust to the ban.

During this period, those who are caught riding their e-scooters on public footpaths will only be issued warnings.

But from Jan. 1, 2020, those caught riding e-scooters on public footpaths will face fines of up to S$2,000 and/or imprisonment of up to three months.
