The last order of McDonald's burger and fries in Iceland turned 10 years old on Thursday (Oct. 31).
Preserved in a hostel
Today, there are no McDonald's outlets left in Iceland, after all three outlets closed in 2009 due to the global financial crisis.
The only thing left of Iceland's McDonald's is a decade-old, decaying burger and fries.
The meal is preserved inside a glass case at Snotra House, a hostel in southern Iceland.

To commemorate the unique milestone, Snotra House is livestreaming the decay of the burger and fries.
In its website, the hostel said that the burger and remaining fries are still in good shape.
Customer placed last order for conservation
According to AFP, a customer placed the last order just moments before McDonald's shut down in the country.
But instead of eating the meal, he decided to conserve it.
Speaking to AFP, Hjortur Smarason said:
"I decided to buy a last meal for its historical value since McDonald's were closing down.
I had heard that McDonald's never decomposed so I just wanted to see if it was true or not."
Meal moved around
In its 10 years, the meal had quite a journey.
It was first kept in Smarason's garage before the National Museum of Iceland borrowed it.
After that, the meal travelled to a hotel in the country's capital before finally ending up at Snotra House.
Although the burger and fries don't exactly look fresh, they are still remarkably well-preserved for something that's a decade old.
