Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has dismissed his royal consort Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, less than three months after the former army nurse was crowned the rank of "Chao Khun Phra", a position that had not been bestowed for nearly a century.

Accused of trying to act against the Queen

The 34-year-old Sineenat was dismissed for "disloyalty to the King", and "acting against the appointment of Queen (Suthida)," according to CNA.

She was accused of actions done "for her own ambitions", by trying to stop the installation of Queen Suthida, and wishing the King to make her his queen instead.

Her actions violated royal protocol, and she was accused of overstepping into the affairs of the royal couple.

This resulted in the removal of her royal and military titles.

Dismissed after less than three months

Sineenat was a former nurse, and her appointment as consort in July 2019 came around two months after the 67-year-old King's coronation in May 2019.

She was born in the northern province of Nan, and graduated from the Royal Thai Army Nursing College.

After training as a pilot in Thailand, as well as overseas, she served in the King's royal bodyguard unit, before being promoted to the rank of major-general.

In August 2019, rare photos of the newly anointed royal consort was released by the Thai Palace, which promptly crashed the palace's website.
