Terry Xu, editor of The Online Citizen, shared an update on the defamation lawsuit brought against him by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Previously on Sep. 26, Xu applied for Lee Hsien Yang and Lee Wei Ling to be brought in as third parties in the lawsuit involving their elder sibling.

Third Party Notice not properly served

On Oct. 8, Xu shared in a Facebook page that the Third Party Notice he delivered to the two younger Lee siblings was not properly served under the Rules of Court.

Xu said he emailed Lee Hsien Yang, and hand-delivered a copy of the notice and relevant documents to Lee Wei Ling's house.

According to Xu, he was informed by the Lees themselves that it was not done in the right manner.

Xu said he will send the notice again.

Following the procedures

When asked by a Facebook commenter if the younger Lee siblings wanted him to "kneel down", another commenter replied that it's more to do with complying with the Rules of the Court.

Otherwise, he said, the plaintiff could throw a "spanner (in the works)" by saying that the procedures were not followed.

Defamation lawsuit

Xu is being sued by PM Lee for defamation after an allegedly defamatory article was published in The Online Citizen and shared on its Facebook page.

TOC was asked by PM Lee’s press secretary in a letter on Sep. 1 to take down the article.

TOC was also asked to publish an apology by Sep. 4.

However, TOC refused.

PM Lee has engaged Senior Counsel Davinder Singh's law firm to represent him in this case.
