A man was recorded on a closed-circuit camera for ill-treating his dog at a pet clinic in China on Oct. 2, 2019.

The footage was leaked and circulated online, which then led to much public outrage towards the ruthless pet owner.

What happened

According to the Chinese media, this incident happened in the Fuyang city of Anhui province in China.

The veterinarian of the clinic shared that the dog was hospitalised after it was being diagnosed with heart failure.

It had been treated in the clinic for four days.

The man had by then already spent 500 to 600 yuan (about S$100 to S$120) on its treatment.

The veterinarian then told the owner that they will try to save the dog and they will only ask for a fee if they managed to do so.

They will not charge if the dog did not make it out of the clinic alive.

However, he added that they will have to ask another 300 yuan (S$60) from the man, which included the cost for another half container of milk powder.

That, however, triggered the man who insisted to take the ill dog out.

The vet asked the man to pay off the medical bill first before discharging the dog but the man retorted: "If the dog is dead, you won't ask for money, right?".

After that, he ruthlessly threw the dog on the floor and kicked it in its face twice before his daughter managed to push him away.

In an interview, the vet said that the dog was still alive after the abuse.

He added that he could not bear to see the dog die so he let the man take his dog home without paying off the remaining bill.

However, it is uncertain if the dog did survive the abuse after that.
