Woman from China opens plane emergency door, says it was too stuffy

Probably shouldn't have done that.

On Sep. 23, a Chinese woman opened a plane's emergency door without authorisation as she wanted some fresh air.

Flight delayed

A video of the incident was filmed by another passenger and was uploaded online, where it went viral:

The plane, which was preparing for take-off, was bound for Lanzhou from Wuhan, China.

China Press reported that the flight was delayed for one hour due to the woman's actions.

Given a reminder

During boarding, an air steward had approached passengers seated by the emergency doors to remind them against touching the emergency door handle.

However, after he left them, the woman ignored his warning and proceeded to open the emergency door.

When asked why she did it, she claimed that the plane was too stuffy.

The woman has since been taken in by the police for questioning.

Other cases

This is not the first time in China where passengers were caught doing peculiar things on board a plane.

This year alone, there were three other strange cases.

On Jan. 11, passengers threw coins into the plane's engine for good luck:

On May. 6, an elderly man opened the plane's emergency exit door as he did not want to wait to disembark:

On May. 17, a lady forced her plane to wait half an hour so her daughter could finish her shopping:

Maybe common sense isn't so common after all.
