Multiple small explosions were heard in Thailand's Bangkok in at least three different locations during the morning rush hour on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019.

Local media Khaosod reported that two were injured from the second explosion, and are now being treated at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

In addition, two female street cleaners suffered minor injuries from the third explosion, and are now being hospitalised in Sirindhorn hospital.

Thai police are investigating the explosions at the moment.

First explosion occurred at 7am

According to Khaosod, the first explosion was heard at around 7am at the garden right in front of the government complex located in suburban Bangkok.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found trees damaged from the explosions, and a hole in the ground.

The bomb squad was called in, and the area is now cordoned off while Thai police investigate the matter.

The second explosion, which occurred at the city centre, was heard shortly after from the area in front of MahaNakorn tower at around 8:30am to 9am, according to different media reports.

Fake bombs found

Just a day before, on Thursday, Aug. 1, two fake bombs were found near the venue of the Asean foreign ministers meeting, according to Free Malaysia Today.

Media reports speculated that the explosions on the morning of Aug. 2 were linked to the bomb scare the day before.

Bangkok is currently hosting several foreign ministers from Asean, as well as from China, Russia, and the United States.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are attending the regional security forum.
