On August 8, lawyers Eugene Thuraisingam and Suang Wijaya, from Eugene Thuraisingam LLP, appeared in court on Thursday afternoon, representing 27-year-old Tan Sen Yang.
Lawyers engaged by family
Tan was identified in court documents as the man in possession of a foldable Kerambit knife on the morning of the murder, on July 2 .
He is currently facing charges of murder with common intention, and faces the death penalty if convicted.
In response to Mothership queries, Thuraisingam replied that he had been engaged along with his colleague by Tan's family to represent him.
This means that all seven suspects of the Orchard Towers murder case now have representation in court.
Psychiatric evaluation complete
Tan's psychiatric evaluation by the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) has since been completed.
However, the court heard that the autopsy report on the case is still pending.
Tan's next appearance in court is scheduled for September 5, 2019.
The other three parties who are also facing the same charge as Tan are Ang Da Yuan (26), Natalie Siow (22) and Joel Tan Yun Sheng (26).
Ang's next appearance in court is August 15, while the appearances of Siow and Joel Tan have been scheduled for September 12.
As for the remaining three suspects, Chan Jia Xing (26), Loo Boon Chong (25) and Tan Hong Sheng (22), they are currently out on bail at S$15,000, with a charge of consorting with a person with an offensive weapon.
They are scheduled to appear in court August 29.
