Police arrest man suspected of burning S'pore flags in Woodlands

A 25-year old man was arrested on Wednesday, August 7, on suspicion of burning Singapore national flags said the Singapore Police Force.

Burnt flags found under HDB block

Police officers were alerted by members of the public about a number of burnt Singapore flags last Sunday (August 4) at noon.

The burnt flags were found at Block 774 Woodlands Crescent.

With the aid of closed-circuit television (CCTV) images and ground enquiries, the Woodlands Police Division identified the man involved and arrested him on Wednesday.

He will be charged in court on Thursday with mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

If convicted, he may face up to seven years in jail and a fine.
