Vegetation fire spanning 2 football fields breaks out at East Coast Park, 3rd in same day in S'pore

No injuries were reported, thankfully.

A huge vegetation fire broke out in East Coast Park on the evening of August 12.

Caught on video

According to videos and photos of the fire on social media, thick, billowing smoke and flames could be seen from a distance, from about 9pm Monday.

Fire as big as two football fields

According to a Facebook post from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire involved vegetation near Marina East Drive.

Some 50 firefighters were deployed on the scene, along with seven water jets, and 12 emergency vehicles.

The fire, which spanned as big as two football fields, was eventually brought under control after more than an hour at 10:30 pm.

No injuries have been reported so far.

2 more vegetation fires in West area earlier Monday

Earlier on Monday, STOMP reported that two other vegetation fires had occurred along Jurong Road and Pang Sua Canal, with the one at Jurong Road reportedly spanning an area as large as 10 football fields.

Both fires were extinguished with two water jets.

SCDF is currently investigating the cause of the fires.
