An 8-year-old in China passed away from kidney cancer after 30 days in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Father a pastry chef

According to Oriental Daily, the girl was diagnosed with the disease after complaining of a persistent stomachache.

After repeated complaints of stomach issue and weight loss in January this year, her parents brought her to a hospital.

It was there that the doctors diagnosed her with kidney cancer.

The father, who is a pastry chef, regularly brought home cakes and sweets for his daughter since she was two years old.

He also regularly brought her for bubble tea, as she had quite the sweet tooth.

While the daughter did put on weight as a result of the diet, the father did not suspect anything was wrong till the doctor visit.

The doctor told the father that the girl's diet might have been an exacerbating factor in her diagnosis. At which point, the father broke down in tears, and blamed himself for getting her sick.

Despite their best efforts, the doctors couldn't save the child, and she eventually succumbed to the illness a month later.

According to Gleneagles, the causes for kidney cancer is not set in stone, there are "certain hereditary conditions" that will make a person more likely to contract kidney cancer, although other factors such as high blood pressure increase the chances of getting it.
