The Bicentennial Experience will remain open for an additional three months.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced this extension in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Immersive

The Bicentennial Experience is an immersive, multi-sensory showcase.

It is the centerpiece of events commemorating Singapore’s history and evolution.

It was due to close in September 2019.

It will now remain open until the end of the year.

But the exhibition will be closed for two weeks from Sept. 16 to 30 to undergo maintenance and refurbishment.

Hundreds of thousands of people have visited the Experience at Fort Canning.

400,000 visitors expected by end-August

Requests for its extension were made by visitors.

The Singapore Bicentennial Office said in its press release that 300,000 visitors were expected to visit the Bicentennial Experience during the opening weeks from June 1 to Sept. 15.

By Aug. 3, the figure was reached.

Some 400,000 people is expected to visit by the end of August.

It would then close on Sept. 15 for a short while.

After the two-week refurbishment and maintenance in September, the Bicentennial Experience will be open from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.
