Seah Kian Li, a 50-year-old man, visited the Woodlands Police Division Headquarters in March 2019 to make bail for his brother.

According to Today, while using the toilet there, he noticed that the basin tap was loose.

Seah thought it would suit his own toilet basin at home, so he unscrewed it and brought it back with him.

For stealing the S$171.20 tap, Seah was given a three-month jail sentence on Aug. 15 after pleading guilty.

Missing tap discovered nearly a month later

The tap was only discovered missing nearly a month after Seah took it, on March 28.

According to CNA, cleaning supervisor Hanisah Isnin reported it to the police station.

An officer checked closed-circuit tv footage and saw Seah committing the deed.

Seah was identified, and his house was raided, with the stolen tap found in his own toilet.

He could have been been jailed for up to three years or fined a maximum of S$2,000 for vandalism.
