10 men aged between 19 and 30 were over the past three days arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting.

This took place outside Central Mall along 5 Magazine Road, on Aug. 9 at about 3:45am, according to a press release from the Singapore Police shared with Mothership.

Unclear why the men were rioting

Police said the identities of the men were established through ground enquiries and CCTV footage.

The video showed a large group of people fighting outside Central Mall, near Clarke Quay.

It is unclear what sparked the fight.

It is also unclear how many people participated in the fight.

However, toward the end of the video, it is evident that more than 10 people were involved.

Four men to be charged, investigations pending for the rest

Four men, aged between 20 and 30, will be charged on Tuesday, Aug. 13, with rioting.

Anyone convicted under the offence of rioting will be punished with an imprisonment term of up to seven years and caning.

Investigations against the remaining six men are still ongoing, police said.
