A mom and pop grocery shop in Yishun is fighting back -- but not before offering a chance.

This was after the shop caught on its closed-circuit television cameras a woman allegedly shoplifting on its premises.

The incident took place on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 12.48pm.

The shop, Kim Eng Mini Supermarket, is located at Yishun Ring Road Block 103.

The shop owner's son, Alvin Tan, put up a Facebook post with the videos showing the alleged shoplifting in action:

More than S$20 worth of groceries

The post caption said the woman allegedly took more than S$20 worth of groceries within two minutes.

In response to Mothership.sg queries, the shop owner's son confirmed the woman allegedly took a S$14 bottle of cooking oil and canned mutton costing S$9.

He also said the items had been stolen multiple times previously before, but it was only now that the shop has narrowed down the time frame and found the footage of the act.

The post added that the shop has encountered shoplifting cases over 17 years.

Appeal to public to find woman

The Facebook post appealed to the public to identify and reach out to the woman involved, so that she can come forward to pay for the items removed from the shop's premises.

The catch?

If the woman did not return to pay, the shop will take action by making a police report on July 14, after giving more than a week's grace period.
