Public transport often results in friction and occasional spats between commuters.

One Reddit user, hiddenhusky, decided to share an experience he had on a bus for readers' "amusement".

"Young people can sit anywhere"

Posting his experience on the r/Singapore thread, hiddenhusky said that he was on bus service 960, which serves a route traversing Woodlands to Raffles, with two other friends.

The trio decided to head to the back of the bus, where all three of them could sit together.

Hiddenhusky was sitting between both his friends and according to him, there were plenty of other empty seats on the bus.

A few stops later, an uncle in his fifties boarded the bus.

The uncle allegedly walked directly to hiddenhusky and his friends and said, "I want this seat. Can I have this seat?"

Hiddenhusky responded by pointing out that there were plenty of other available seats, but the uncle allegedly insisted and pulled out the "old people card".

According to the Reddit user, the uncle said that "young people can sit anywhere" and that the particular seat that hiddenhusky was occupying was the "most comfortable".

The uncle apparently continued ranting, "This guy ah don’t know English is it??? I want this seat."

Uncle started mock-begging when insulted

Hiddenhusky then decided to give in to the uncle's whims and move to another seat.

While the uncle was seated between his two friends, hiddenhusky muttered, "entitled people" out of frustration.

This allegedly infuriated the uncle, who proceeded to leave his seat, kneel in front of hiddenhusky and "start begging, albeit in a mocking way".

The uncle then returned to the seat and continued ranting about young people.

Netizens' reactions

Fellow Redditors responded in support of hiddenhusky, agreeing that some elderly folk can behave in self-entitled ways:

One netizen speculated that perhaps the seat the uncle desired had more leg-room.

Others speculated that the act of kneeling and mock-begging for the seat was simply a tactic to guilt-trip him, or draw attention to the scene on the bus.

Some netizens on the other hand, decided to give hiddenhusky a few rather interesting and constructive advice on how he could have handled the situation.
