SingPost has launched a new service that will allow residents to familiarise themselves with their postman, as well as rate their performance.
The website
During the initial trial period starting today (July 16), residents whose postal codes begin with 58, 59, 65, and 76 can enter their postal codes on mypostman.sg.
There, they will be able to read short biographies of their postmen, while also leaving ratings and comments that will be shared with the postal worker.
The initiative will be rolled out nationwide in October, 2019.
Additionally, the site features a general feedback page which can be used to report service and letterbox-related issues.
Improving SingPost
The new website is an effort by SingPost to improve service standards and resolve letterbox-related issues.
In a media release Singapore head and chief executive of postal services Vincent Phang said:
"While primarily aimed at increasing SingPost's service standards, what we hope this campaign does is also to foster a spirit of community and to encourage residents to get to know their postman, who provides a public service."
Every household and business unit in Singapore will also receive a set of four fridge magnets, including one which will feature a QR code that can be scanned for quick access to the mypostman.sg site.
The QR code can also be found on stickers that have been pasted above HDB letterbox nests in the trial estates.
Public trust
This latest initiative was first announced in June, 2019 with a host of other initiatives in an effort by SingPost to regain public trust.
Other initiatives include a trackable letterbox mail product and role specialisation for postal workers.
Sentiment towards the postal service had taken a downward turn after a series of service errors, many of which were brought to public attention through social media.
Last week, the Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran said that there were signs of improvement within SingPost.
He cited a 30 per cent drop in the number of letter and parcel delivery complaints in May compared to April.
