And she said yes! — We were lucky to witness a (successful! 😜) wedding proposal by NUS Mechanobiology Institute PhD student Zhang Shao Bo to his girlfriend and NUS Food Science and Technology Programme Phd graduate Dr Lin Jing at her commencement ceremony! The pair met five years ago during a chance encounter at the then NUS Sports and Recreation Centre (now NUS University Sports Centre), and have been together ever since! Congrats to the lovely couple and to Lin Jing on her graduation! #NUS2019 #NUSBeyond ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 Swipe to watch the proposal! #NUS #NUSLife #NationalUniversityofSingapore #hattoss #balloondrop #festival #celebration #graduation #grad #singapore #asia #university #education #congratsgrad #congratsgrads #classof2019 #gradlo #commencement2019 #mortarboard #commencement #marriage #willyoumarryme #proposal #love #couple #goals #couplegoals #wedding

NUS love story

Lin attained her doctorate from the Food Science and Technology Programme.

Zhang is currently still an NUS Mechanobiology Institute PhD candidate.

The couple met five years ago at the NUS Sports and Recreation Centre while engaging in their paper chase.

What went down

The blue-maned mascot, who appeared to be the legit NUS mascot and served as wingman, helped the boyfriend dressed in the derp lion mascot:

This was their prep:

Much success, with friendly Asian hug:
