With a constant stream of new gimmicks and flavours, the bubble tea wave is far from receding anytime soon.
Over in Japan, sushi shop chain Sushiro has collaborated with popular Taiwanese bubble tea chain Sharetea to create a boba milk tea that comes with glowing pearls, served up on Sushiro's conveyor belts.
Translucent pearls glow when placed on light source
This new beverage is called "Hikaru golden bubble tea", and was launched on July 19.
The pearls appear translucent and glow brightly in the opaque milk tea when the cup is placed on a light source.
Besides its glowing pearls, the Hikaru golden bubble tea also claims to have a richer taste as compared to the usual milk tea.
Somehow only the pearls allow light through them, but not the ice inherent in the drink.
Heres a visual demonstration:
Available only for a limited time
The Hikaru golden bubble tea will be available for a limited period, and only at all Sushiro outlets in Japan, so you can enjoy sushi and bubble tea at the same time.
It's going for 280 yen, which is about S$3.50.

You can also have it at Narita Airport if you happen to be visiting Tokyo soon.
Fancy.
