In just four days after the Bukit Batok fire, another personal mobility device (PMD) has led a residential unit fire.

Fire broke out at HDB flat at Ang Mo Kio

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), they were alerted at around 3.05pm to a residential unit fire on the fourth floor of Block 224 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.

The fire engulfed almost everything in the flat.

SCDF put out the fire with one water jet and evacuated about 60 people from the block with the help of the police.

An adult and three children were rescued.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the cause of the fire was a PMD left in the kitchen.

Several families affected

Ang Mo Kio GRC MP, Koh Poh Koon, was also spotted at the nearby open car park area where people were evacuated to.

Koh also mentioned that no one was hurt although some units were damaged by the fire.

Temporary HDB units have been arranged for affected families and they are receiving support from relevant agencies.

If you have a PMD, you might want to check if it is certified:
