Established in 2003, the World Cosplay Summit gathers the best cosplayers from several countries to compete and to encourage friendly international relations, along with the celebration of Japanese pop culture.

Representing Singapore on the world cosplay stage

Singapore has been sending representatives to be a part of the summit for several years now.

For this year's 17th edition of the summit, well-renowned cosplayers, Rithe and Kai will represent Singapore in the week-long summit held in Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan.

For the opening ceremony that took place in Tokyo, Kai was cosplaying Giorno Giovanna from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures Part 5: Golden Wind and Rithe was cosplaying Violet Evergarden from Violet Evergarden.

Civil servant 'cosplayer' joins in

They also met up with First Secretary Michael Chew from the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo.

Taking a group photo, the embassy would upload the photo onto their Facebook page with the following cheeky caption:
