Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo visited students at Yumin Primary School and Chongzheng Primary School on July 4.
In Singapore for short visit
The football star was at Yumin Primary School to support the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship, and to share his own experiences in becoming a football champion and overcoming difficulties.
He is in Singapore for a short visit, weeks prior to the International Champions Cup match he is due to play in with his club Juventus, against Tottenham Hotspur on July 21.
The scholarship which Ronaldo is promoting started out with a S$10 million donation from Ronaldo's "good friend" and billionaire Lim, which aims to ensure that no young athlete pursuing sports “should be hampered by financial considerations”.
Lim will put in another S$10 million into the scholarship, which has since awarded 2,642 student-athletes, who have received a total of S$7.2 million, The Straits Times reported.
Students excited
Besides Lim, Tampines GRC MPs Desmond Choo, as well as Cheng Li Hui, attended the event.
The mood prior to his arrival at Yumin Primary was electric.

Ronaldo would finally arrive, dressed in a white Nike shirt, shorts and a pair of Nike sneakers.
Before the Q&A session, some kids played a bit of football with one of the greatest football players ever.
Questions from students
The star also took the chance to answer several questions from Yumin and Chongzheng students.
Questions included the hardest training he had to go through, whether the football star had to face pressure from his family, and whether he plays football when he's in a bad mood.
A primary four student from Chongzheng Primary asked Ronaldo what was his biggest challenge coming from a poor family and how he managed to overcome it.
To that question, Ronaldo mentioned that leaving the family to be a professional football player is the hardest part, but his parents had been supportive, so he took his chances.
There were several occasions when he cried, but after a few years, everything changed for the better when he got his first contract at 16.
Another primary six student from Yumin Primary asked if he ever felt that he'd never want to play football anymore and what would his advice be to never give up.
The football star quickly answered "no, no, no", before continuing that "whatever you want to be, just believe in your dreams, focus... Because everything is possible. Never quit, try and try."
After a separate Q&A session with the host, two students representing both schools got some signatures from Ronaldo himself.
Cheering Ronaldo as he left
After a wefie with the students, the time came for him to take his leave.
The students cheered his name, "Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldo" as left the premises.
At the same time, some of the students can be seen hurriedly taking out their smartphones, snapping away at the football star.
A warm reception.
