The Land Transport Authority (LTA) caught 327 errant personal mobility devices (PMD) users and cyclists in June 2019.

They also impounded 214 devices - half of which were due to speeding and non-compliant devices.

The LTA also shared that hotspots for errant PMD usage in June include Ang Mo Kio, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong, Woodlands, and Yishun.

11 offences caught per day

According to statistics from LTA, about 3,700 active mobility offences were detected from May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.

Of these, 20 per cent pertain to speeding, reckless riding, and use of PMDs on the road.

Another 50 per cent of the offences related to device non-compliance. The rest were mainly power assisted bicycle-related offences.

If you add in the tally for May 2019 (325 offences), you'll find that over 4,350 active mobility offenders were caught from May 2018 to June 2019 -- that's about 11 offences per day on average.

Yikes.

If you're a PMD or e-bike user, do take note of the active mobility rules (such as the speed and weight limits) so you don't run afoul of them.

Now that it's July, 2019, e-scooter users need to ensure that they register their devices with LTA before using them in public.

Don't do this if you're a PMD user:
