Kpop power couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are seeking to end their marriage after less than two years.

The piece of news came via a statement from the actor's lawyer and has shocked many fans globally.

Descendants of The Sun theme park

The couple co-starred in the mega-hit drama Descendants of The Sun (DOTS), and their subsequent marriage made it even more special and significant.

So much so that there was a DOTS theme park built at TaeBaek City in South Korea later.

The theme park reportedly cost 270 million won to set up, which is about S$316,000.

A day tour at the theme park costs about USD165 (S$224) per person.

You can visit the filming locations in the drama's military uniform and take photos with the commemorative statue of the couple's kiss.

Annual couple festival canceled

With the fairytale romance coming to an end, the theme park's annual couple festival has also called off this year.

The couple festival has been held in July every year and this is the first time the organisers are cancelling it.

According to Kpop site Koreaboo, here's what the organisers said:

"We have cancelled the Taebaek Couple Festival. We have not decided on whether we will cancel the festival for good. We will continue to discuss the matter."

The event had drawn about 12,000 visitors, mostly from Taiwan and China, in 2017, according to another Kpop site Allkpop.

Media reports suggested that the divorce will impact the visitorship to the theme park drastically.
