If you love cashless payments, here's a piece of good news.
The first phase to bring cashless payments to hawker centres has been launched, according to the Straits Times.
As of June 29, over 500 hawker stalls from 22 coffee shops, 10 hawker centres, and 12 industrial canteens across Singapore offer a unified cashless payment so that you don't have to rummage through your wallet looking for loose change.
Over 20 different contactless payment options
This unified cashless payment system is provided for by Nets and has over 20 payment providers such as:

- EZ Link cards
- DBS PayLah!
- GrabPay
- LifeUp Pay
- Liquid Pay
- Mastercard
- Nets
- Nets FlashPay
- Nets Cashcards
- Nets Pay

- Singtel Dash
- Slide
- Standard Chartered
- UnionPay
- UOB Mighty
- VIA
- Visa
- WeChat Pay
Using this unified payment system, all you have to do is either scan, tap or insert your card into the payment terminal.
According to the deputy CEO of Enterprise Singapore, Razer Pay and Diners Club will be included by October 2019, CNA reported.
Beo Crescent, Chomp Chomp on board
Hawker centres with this unified payment system include Beo Crescent Hawker Centre, Chomp Chomp Food Centre, Ciyuan Hawker Centre, Yishun Park, and Zion Hawker Centre.

Free terminal rental for three years for hawkers
According to the Straits Times, these unified payment terminals are rented to hawkers for free for the first three years when they sign up with Nets.
The transaction fee of 0.5 per cent will be covered by the government in the same period. Hawkers who wish to apply for the transaction fee waiver will have to do so before August 2020.
This initial rollout is part of a two-year plan to have this unified contactless payment system at 200 coffeeshops, 25 hawker centres, and 20 industrial canteens by September 2020.
