If you shop on RedMart, here's some news you might want to take note of.
From Mar. 15, 2019, RedMart will begin selling their products on Lazada, including groceries, as part of its official move to the platform, according to an announcement made on their Facebook page on Feb. 2.
The move follows RedMart's acquisition by Lazada two years ago.RedMart users were additionally informed of the move on Sunday in an email circular.
Current RedMart app and website to remain in use until Mar. 14, 2019
In the meantime, customers can continue using the current RedMart app and website up to Mar. 14, 11:59pm.
Afterwards, both platforms will halt their acceptance of orders, and only allow customers to view their pending orders and order history for a limited time afterwards.
Orders from that point onwards will also have to be made on the customer's Lazada account.
However, customers have the option of bringing their order history to their Lazada account, where they can receive up to S$25 off their initial RedMart orders on Lazada.
How does bringing over my order history work?
On RedMart's website, there is the option to "Opt In" which will allow you to copy your order history and RedMart account information to your Lazada account, to ensure that your information is good to go on Mar. 15.
This includes your past purchase history for the year, order lists and cart contents.
However, according to RedMart's FAQ, due to data privacy laws, your payment and/or credit card details will not be included in the move.
This means that you will need to have an approved payment method, or register a new one if necessary, once the move is completed on Mar. 15.
As for getting up to S$25 off your initial purchases, this will be done via an initial deposit of S$10 in your Lazada wallet, after the move on Mar. 15. It will be valid for the first purchase on the new RedMart.
An additional S$5 will be added to your Lazada Wallet for the subsequent three orders on RedMart after Mar. 15.
Ordering process to mostly remain the same
RedMart further added in an FAQ list that the ordering process will pretty much remain the same, with one difference being that customers now have the option to check out their Lazada and RedMart purchases together in one go.
Another difference is that more payment options will also be available, such as the use of the Lazada Wallet for RedMart purchases.
However, RedMart orders will be fulfilled separately from Lazada orders, in the same manner of the customer's chosen two-hour delivery slot between 7am and 11pm, seven days a week including public holidays.
