Taiwanese Air Force video makes S'poreans feel like they've seen it before

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Taiwan's Air Force, which is known as the Republic of China Air Force, published a thoughtful video on Dec. 28 2018.

It wished all Taiwanese residents a Happy New Year 2019, accompanied with footage showing off their air force.

The video was edited to juxtapose the military combatant reality with the everyday lives of Taiwanese residents, conveying the messaging that the air force would continue to protect the country's way of life.

Here it is.

Looks familiar

Singaporeans, however, would probably recognise the uncanny resemblance the Taiwanese commercial shares with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) video that was uploaded to Facebook in March last year.

The commercial was made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the RSAF and was lauded for its seamless juxtaposition of military life with everyday scenes, with a great soundtrack to boot.

A few Singaporeans noticed the similarities, such as Singapore's blogfather mrbrown, and Benjamin Lee a.k.a Mr Miyagi.

Here's a comparison between the two videos.

It was not entirely missed out by the Taiwanese either.

One commenter said: "If you want to mimic another person's video, you have to do better at mimicking it."

Oops.
