The cohort of polytechnic graduates in Singapore in 2018 who have full-time permanent employment have an overall median gross monthly salary of S$2,350.
This is according to the Graduate Employment Survey released on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
In 2017, the figure was lower at S$2,235.
The median figure is useful for measuring the middle value. Individuals earning S$2,350, for example, are likely to be making more than half of their peers in the cohort.
Better prospects
Polytechnic graduates saw better employment prospects and higher salaries in 2018 compared to 2017, the survey showed.
About 89.5 percent of graduates found full-time, part-time temporary and freelance jobs within six months of graduation.
In 2017, it was 2.2 percent lower.
Students who graduated from health sciences earned the most compared to their peers from other courses, similar to previous years.
The numbers also show that polytechnic graduates are becoming more open to voluntary part-time/ temporary and freelance employment, the polytechnics said in the media release.
The survey was jointly conducted by Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic.
