The last time McDonald's Singapore came up with something new, it made the entire nation retch in unison:

Which may be why we went in with low expectations this time.

Here's the S$6.50 hotcakes with golden chicken:

The chicken looks pretty decent, actually.

But would it be like the curry burger, where they slapped lunch ingredients together with breakfast ingredients and called it a new item?

But pleasant surprise -- the ridged patty is not the same as the McChicken's or McSpicy's, which is admittedly unviable, unless you are on a toxin cleanse.

Turns out the chicken is decent and pairs well with the pancakes. What do we know.

One colleague said it tastes like a giant chicken nugget.

The insides of the patty is a little dry but still acceptable, given its price.

Tip: Add the Hotcakes syrup to the chicken.

Phew.

Rating: 7.9/10 (in part due to lowered expectations, if we were to be honest)

Price we would pay for it vs. how much it actually costs:

S$6 : S$6.50
