Jay Chou disappointed a lot of fans when he married Hannah Quinvilan in 2015.

Now, the couple has two children -- a three-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy -- of their own.

However, it hasn't always been smooth-sailing -- in a Jan. 2 interview with Vogue Taiwan, Quinlivan opens up their family life and the time she almost gave up on the relationship.

Pranking her husband

Quinlivan is quite the prankster, apparently.

The Taiwanese media outlet revealed that the model/actress would pull practical jokes on her family members all the time, including her daughter and of course, Chou.

For instance, when her daughter was younger, Quinlivan would give the toddler lemons to taste, as she found the child's scrunched-up expressions adorable and hilarious.

One of her proudest gags, however, took place on an unspecified April Fools' day.

She had cling-wrapped the toilet bowl in a way that pee would splash back, and was waiting for Chou to make a trip to the toilet.

Chou was already suspicious then, and kept questioning what his wife was up to.

Quinlivan laughed and denied that she was up to anything, but admits that her laughter was "unnatural".

When her husband proceeded to the toilet before bedtime, Quinlivan followed immediately.

Sadly, Chou deliberately threw in some toilet paper first, and that was how Quinlivan got found out.

"My husband? My husband is very childish too, but it's a good thing he is, or he might find me immature," the star tells Vogue Taiwan.

On not showing their children's face publicly

As for why the couple hasn't shared an uncovered, full-frontal shot of their children's faces, Quinlivan explains that they do not want their children's status to eclipse their identity.

In other words, she wishes for them to be known for their names, and not as "Jay Chou's daughter" or "Hannah Quinlivan's son".

In a sense, the star feels that she has also lost her own name, especially when the people refer to her as "Tian Wang Sao" (wife of a heavenly king, translated from Chinese).

But she is "ok" with it, as being Chou's wife is her personal choice.

On the other hand, Quinlivan feels that her children could not choose what family they were born into, and will therefore let them reveal their faces to the public when they are grown up and ready.

Both Chou and herself hope that their children will be happy to have them for parents, rather than be stressed out.

Sweet as their matrimonial life sounds, Quinlivan originally had her doubts about the relationship.

When they were dating, the then-starlet faced tremendous pressure from the public.

This mostly came from the fact that the model/actress couldn't talk about their relationship, and as she was taught not to lie from young by her father, Quinlivan could only laugh awkwardly when questioned by others.

As a result, Quinlivan became troubled, and even thought of giving them up.

"I was so afraid of saying something wrong then, and that it would end up hurting him (Chou)."

Therefore, the outgoing Quinlivan kept a distance from everyone, and even went to America to pursue film studies.

On the third day, Chou showed up.

"At that moment I had a feeling, he's the one," the star said.

In the process, Quinlivan even sought advice from her father, and asked if she was unsuitable for this sort of relationship (by "this sort of relationship" we can only imagine it to mean dating a high-profile artiste).

Her father then told her that there was nothing to complain or be resentful about, as it was her own choice and she had to take responsibility for it.

Today, the couple has been together for nine years.

Quinlivan confesses that she's had plenty of opportunities and greater access to resources thanks to Chou, and hopes to improve herself personally and professionally in order to deserve what she's been given.

"After getting married, my husband has taken up the burden of the household by himself. I hope that I can share that burden with him, so that if one day he gets tired, I want him to be able to have the option of taking a break or doing something else. I can support him."
