Hokkaido concept cafe with bear-shaped shaved ice & Hokkaido milk coffee opens in Tanjong Pagar

Another week, another cafe.

Japanese cafes — specifically, Hokkaido-based brands — are getting increasingly popular in Singapore:

Popular creme brulee & red wine soft serves from Hokkaido now available in Tanjong Pagar

And Baristart Coffee is joining the scene with their specialisation in Hokkaido dairy, both in food and beverage.

Here’s a quick look at what they have to offer.

Coffees, desserts, and mains

Their coffees are made with Biei Jersey milk that comes from Brown Jersey cattle.

According to their website, there are only about 800 of such cows in Hokkaido, making up just one per cent of the entire cow population there.

Products that are made from this type of dairy are supposed to be creamier and richer than those made with regular milk.

➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ This is the 3rd time (3rd day in a row) 🤣🙈 I feel like my vibe is screaming “big fan of you guys so here I am”. Will probably not show my face there for awhile LOL. Besto frendo saw my stories so paid it another visit, coupled with desserts this time. Super delish, don’t think it’d be good for people who aren’t a fan of milky/creamy stuff. Am waiting for their food menu to launch so I can safely go back again- • • • • #baristartwithcoffee #coffee #dessert #newyearneweffortforinstagrampostandcaption #lies #Ilikestoryfunctionmuchmore #hashtagsaremendokusai #outreachisrigged #dopeopleevenbrowsehashtagsanymore #コーヒー #デザート#やっぱストーリー系の方が好き #ちょっと新年のやる気出さないとやばいかも #うん2019年はもう無理

There appears to be a wide variety of desserts at Baristart Coffee too, ranging from cream puffs to cakes and parfaits:

However, the Shiro Kuma Hokkaido — shaved iced presented in the shape of a bear — steals the spotlight just by being cute:

Mains have been added to the menu as recently as one day ago, and it includes pastas, sandwiches, rice bowls, and more:

Address: 65 Tras Street, Singapore 079004
Opening Hours: 10am to 10pm, daily
