Hokkaido concept cafe with bear-shaped shaved ice & Hokkaido milk coffee opens in Tanjong Pagar

Another week, another cafe.

Japanese cafes -- specifically, Hokkaido-based brands -- are getting increasingly popular in Singapore:

And Baristart Coffee is joining the scene with their specialisation in Hokkaido dairy, both in food and beverage.

Here's a quick look at what they have to offer.

Coffees, desserts, and mains

Their coffees are made with Biei Jersey milk that comes from Brown Jersey cattle.

According to their website, there are only about 800 of such cows in Hokkaido, making up just one per cent of the entire cow population there.

Products that are made from this type of dairy are supposed to be creamier and richer than those made with regular milk.

We visited the newly opened @baristartcoffee_sg at Tras Street where only Hokkaido milk 🥛 is used to make its desserts 🧁 🍨 🍮 and coffee. Here is the Shiro Kuma Hokkaido shaved ice 🍧 that’s shaped like a bear 🐻 served with vanilla ice cream with Hokkaido BIEI Jersey milk. Too cute.
