An American passenger who ordered one of the female flight attendants on his flight to wipe his butt after pooping has successfully booked another ticket with the airline, Taiwan News (TN) reported.
This was despite the fact that he had been blacklisted by the airline.
Taiwan-based media SET News (SETN) reported that the man's ticket is supposedly scheduled for May 17, where he will first take flight BR212 from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
He will then change to flight BR12, bound for Los Angeles afterwards.
Many EVA flight attendants have since reacted with a mix of fury and horror upon finding out that the man was able to book another flight, according to both SETN and TN.
One flight attendant was quoted by SETN as stating:
"EVA Air bullies employees and works against the whole nation regardless of public opinion. Do you still want to buy tickets from such a company?"
Successfully bypassed the blacklist because of extra blank space in name
A second flight attendant who spoke to SETN added that:
"the passenger had already been blacklisted after they received a report from the Chief Cabin Officer from the previous flight, but there was a mistake in the system...because there was a blank space in the passenger's name."
As such, the extra blank space meant that his name did not raise any flags in the system when his name was entered, TN further reported.
TN added in another report that EVA Air refused to comment on the details of the American's itinerary when contacted, stating that "it was not at the liberty of disclosing the details of his itinerary."
Not the passenger's first time demanding crew wipe his butt after pooping
However, on Jan. 26, the airline released records of the man's previous 20 flights with EVA Air, which revealed that the latest incident was not the first time the American had demanded the crew clean his butt after pooping.
Quoting EVA Air, TN reported that the passenger had made the same demand on a previous flight in May 2018, but was refused:
"On a flight from SFO to TPE and TPE to BKK in May of 2018, the passenger asked to use the business class toilet to wipe his buttocks. Crew members agreed that the passenger could use the business class toilet and help move him to it, but they refused to wipe his buttocks. The passenger took care of his own physical needs and during the voyage he did not defecate while in his seat."
Neither was wiping his buttocks the only demand he made.
On another Bangkok-bound flight, he had demanded the crew clean his urine bottle.
Despite not requiring to do so, the Thai flight attendants wore gloves and helped him out anyway, in "the spirit of service".
Passenger must be accompanied by a nurse
SETN further quoted the second flight attendant stating that the man has since been classified as a passenger who could not take care of himself.
This means:
"He has to provide a medical certificate and must have a nurse to accompany him on the plane."
It remains to be seen if he'll be able to board his flight on May 17.
