Aloysius Pang's body back in S'pore, will be accorded military funeral on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019

The public will have 24 hours to bid him farewell, followed by his cremation on Sunday.

On Friday January 25, at 5:45pm, the KC-135 military aircraft carrying Aloysius Pang's body touched down at Paya Lebar Airbase.

Prior to flying off, there was a send-off for him at Auckland Airport.

Earlier Facebook page The Reservist shared what appears to be the same carrier descending onto Singapore.
They shared the video with this heart-wrenching caption:

"Welcome home, Aloysius. This is not the way that you should have come back, but at least you are home."

His family was there to receive him at Paya Lebar Air Base, along with the Chief of Army, Major-General Goh Si Hou.

The public are also permitted to pay their respects and bid farewell to him between Saturday and Sunday, noon to noon:

Military funeral

MINDEF also announced on Friday that Pang will be accorded a military funeral on Sunday.

For those who might have forgotten, Dave Lee, the NSF who died from heatstroke last year, was also accorded one.

The cremation will take place at Mandai Crematorium on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

Here's the full MINDEF statement.

"The body of the late Corporal First Class (National Service) [CFC(NS)] Pang Wei Chong, Aloysius arrived in Singapore at around 1800hrs today (SG time) in a Republic of Singapore Air Force KC-135R tanker aircraft. The late CFC(NS) Pang was accorded due honors by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) through a homecoming ramp ceremony with Chief of Army Major-General Goh Si Hou in attendance, a Guard Of Honour and fellow soldiers of the Artillery Formation. The family of the late CFC(NS) Pang witnessed the ceremony.

At Paya Lebar Air Base, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, accompanied by Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong met a family member to offer the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the SAF's condolences. Dr Ng also conveyed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's personal condolences to the family and paid his respects to the late CFC(NS) Pang.

The late CFC(NS) Pang will be accorded the full honours of a military funeral. The cremation ceremony will be held at Mandai Crematorium on 27 January 2019.

MINDEF and the SAF will continue to render assistance and support to the family of the late CFC(NS) Pang."
