Aloysius Pang's condition took a turn for the worse.

In a media release on Jan. 23, Mindef has shared that TV actor Aloysius Pang’s condition worsened and required an additional surgery that was completed on Jan. 22 just before midnight.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen revealed more about his condition in a Facebook post on January 23, 2019.

Here it is.

Here is what he said.

"Ministry of Defence, Singapore (MINDEF) has put out information about the condition of CFC (NS) Aloysius Pang, who is in ICU in New Zealand. I have just spoken with Dr Teo Li Tserng to get an update on CFC (NS) Pang’s condition. We flew Dr Teo, Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, to New Zealand to assist in the care.

CFC (NS) Pang’s condition is very serious and presently he needs artificial life support of his lungs, kidneys and heart. Dr Teo told me that surgeons and staff at the Waikato Hospital – a regional trauma center – are doing all they possibly can to keep up the support and improve his condition. Coincidentally, the head surgeon responsible for CFC (NS) Pang’s care and Dr Teo know each other, having participated in international conferences together. This rapport is useful and I told Dr Teo to convey Singapore’s appreciation to the doctors and staff there for their untiring efforts, and to let us know if there is anything else they need to help CFC (NS) Pang.

Even as the doctors do all they can, our prayers go to CFC (NS) Pang to turn this difficult corner, as well as to his family members for strength."

Pang is in critical condition and needs artificial life support of his lungs, kidney and heart.

That is according to Ng's talk with with Dr Teo, Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, who was flown over to New Zealand to assist in his care.

According to Today, Pang had parts of his intestines removed.

In a previous statement to the media, Mindef said that Pang “sustained a serious injury while carrying out repair works on a Singapore Self-Propelled Howitzer”.

It was later revealed by Teo that the injuries were to Pang’s abdomen and chest.

In a press conference to the media on Jan. 21, Pang’s NoonTalk Media artiste management boss Dasmond Koh shared that Pang’s abdomen and chest was supposedly “pinned by something”.

He implored the media to not speculate what that meant and to wait for Mindef to investigate the issue.
