In a media release on Jan. 23, Mindef has shared that TV actor Aloysius Pang's condition worsened and required an additional surgery that was completed on Jan. 22 just before midnight.
Mindef said that Pang's condition "is critical and he is being managed in the intensive care unit".
Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Chief of Trauma Dr Teo Li Tserng, arrived in New Zealand on Jan. 22 and had been working with the New Zealand medical team to provide care for Pang.
Was stable previously
Earlier on Jan. 21, Dr. Teo shared that Pang's condition had stabilised following two surgeries.
He said that Pang was "awake, alert, and he is breathing on his own, not requiring any mechanical ventilation".
"Pinned"
In a previous statement to the media, Mindef said that Pang "sustained a serious injury while carrying out repair works on a Singapore Self-Propelled Howitzer".
It was later revealed by Dr. Teo that the injuries were to Pang's abdomen and chest.
In a press conference to the media on Jan. 21, Pang's NoonTalk Media artiste management boss Dasmond Koh shared that Pang's abdomen and chest was supposedly "pinned by something".
He implored the media to not speculate what that meant and to wait for Mindef to investigate the issue.
*Update as of 3pm on Jan. 23: Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen shared on Facebook that Pang's ondition "is very serious and presently he needs artificial life support of his lungs, kidneys and heart".*
