A representative from the People's Action Party (PAP) has personally apologised on Sunday, Jan. 13 for a language faux pas.

The non-elected Kaki Bukit branch chairman Shamsul Kamar apologised in a Facebook post for any "unintentional offence caused" after a picture of a door hanger featuring the inaccurate translated Tamil language characters circulated online.

The door hanger brochures were distributed to Kaki Bukit residents.

Shamsul was a PAP candidate who contested in a five-person team in Aljunied GRC in the 2015 general election and lost.

The brochure was highlighted by a few residents:

The brochure appears to inform residents of Kaki Bukit that they were not in when PAP representatives had visited their homes.

Kaki Bukit is part of the Aljunied group representation constituency.

Shamsul said in his apology: "To all Tamil residents who received the brochure, I deeply apologise for this oversight and for any unintentional offence caused."
