Imagine being a pet bird stuck on a seven-storey high tree for two days, with limited access to food and water.
All because your chain got entangled with the tree branch.
This was what happened to a cockatoo in Yishun -- until it was rescued by Sembawang Town Council's horticultural officer known as Mr Chew.
The incident was shared by Facebook page Kampung Sembawang on Dec. 12, 2018.
Resident spotted parrot on tree
The cockatoo was first discovered by a resident, who had seen the bird on a tree beside Block 412 Yishun Ring Road for the past two days.
The bird was also making noise, which was deduced to have been made "out of fear and hunger".
After the resident made a call to the town council, Mr Chew alerted the crane contractor who arrived at the scene within a short period of time.
Went door by door to look for owner
While the contractor worked to remove the bird from the tree, other residents pointed Mr Chew to Blk 409, where they believed the bird's owner resided.
As he had no idea who the owner was, Mr Chew then went door-to-door until he found the father and son duo, who were worried sick about their missing pet.
According to the Facebook post, the parrot, which had looked frightened, then laid comfortably in the hands of its owner when they were finally reunited.
And if we didn't know any better, we might even think that the poor cockatoo looked just a little bit apologetic:
