You might have seen this altercation between a man and a young teen.

In it he repeatedly called him "shit Malay" and clashed with another man who took offence at it.

Here's the article.

Here's the video.

He has now issued an "apology" on his Facebook.

Here it is.

"I understand tt there’s a vid of me gg viral online & all I can say is - I love Malays (general) like I love my bandung. Like I love my ondeh ondeh. xx My religion is Christianity & e values & principles (Christianity) tt were brought up w/ me has ALWAYS been ACCEPTANCE & love.

Yours sincerely,

Adrian"

The man who appears to be a Manchester United supporter, also reiterated that he is above the hate.

"Lastly, I understand tt wad transpired after ‘e’ video would have rendered me a no. of haters, but I have NO time for hate & this final post (w/ regards to e dispute on bus 190) is for e peeps hu have emphatised/supported/encouraged & STOOD by me throughout this ‘ordeal.’ I’m grateful, thankful & appreciate e gesture/kindness/love shown.

W/ love (e 1 tt Jesus has taught/placed in me),

AC"

This "apology" wasn't very well received though.

Backlash

Some immediately called him out on the usage of religion, and God.

With some of his declared loves not reciprocating his feelings.

But this was the prevailing sentiment.

Some reasons for that feeling might have been the apology being incredibly mishandled.

The issue of the original video was seen by many as a case of needlessly bringing in race into a misunderstanding.

For all the restraint the yellow-shirted youngster displayed, that amount of self-awareness and reflection does not seem to have gone into either of his two posts.

Liking ondeh-ondeh and bandung, while a perfectly nice trait to have, doesn't excuse nor alleviate the original insults.

Still, it is encouraging that there doesn't seem to be any animosity shown towards other religions.

Although some affiliation might be understandable.

Sad.
