A massive gang fight took place in Boon Lay.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the huge brawl broke out along Block 221A, Boon Lay Place, at midnight on Dec. 21.
Some 20 people were involved.
The fight had taken place between two groups of people and lasted for up to 10 minutes.
One person was suspected to be armed with a parang.
A case of "revenge"
Witnesses quoted by SMDN said that most of the fight consisted of the two groups shouting at each other, with four to five people coming to blows.
The man suspected of holding a parang wielded it in the middle of the fight for "revenge".
Trail of blood
One resident told SMDN that he saw a man with the back of his arm bleeding from a cut wound.
Another resident, a 50-year-old female retiree, told SMDN that she saw a victim being kicked and punched by four to five people.
The retiree said it was in this group that she saw a man holding what looked like a parang.
The first resident added that the fight immediately dispersed when someone shouted to signal two policemen were arriving.
Alleged parang wielder escaped
SMDN reported that the first resident then witnessed the police helping the injured man to an ambulance.
He was sent to the National University Hospital.
Three more policemen were also seen arriving on the scene, with all five of them remaining in the area for roughly two hours.
SMDN also highlighted that a 30-metre trail of blood was left at the scene after the perpetrators had fled.
Two people have been arrested in relation to the case, the police said.
SMDN added that this did not include the man who wielded the parang, as he had supposedly escaped after throwing the parang into the grass, according to one of the arrested suspects.
