This is probably the most accurately depicted anime version of S'pore so far

Makes you damn hungry as well.

A tonne of anime have made references to Singapore.

More often than not, to the Merlion.

This particular anime, “A Place Further Than The Universe”, or 宇宙よりも遠い場所 (Sora yori mo tooi basho), however goes far and beyond any depiction most anime will bother with.

A quick synopsis: 4 high-school students — their names are Tamaki Mari, Miyake Hinata, Kobuchizawa Shirase and Shiraishi Yuzuki — are on a mission to travel towards Antartica.

This was partly motivated by Kobuchizawa's wish to find her missing mother, and Tamaki's wish to live out her youth.

In episode 6, the quartet departs for Singapore.

Here are nearly four minutes of unadulterated Singaporean-ness, courtesy of a video posted on Nite.sg, which has gone incredibly viral.

In case you can't see the video, here it is.

There are a lot of really beautiful depictions of food in Singapore.

And the seemingly large portions in Singapore.

Although durians are still a no-no.
