Vasantham, the channel of choice for the growing Indian community in Singapore, is coming out with a new drama series soon.
Five trailers released
They're really excited about it, as they have already released five teaser trailers, which they recently took down for some reason.
From those trailers they seem to really want to emphasise the new faces being put on show, as this is the accompanying caption:
Vasantham brings you a brand new drama series with a whole new outlook and featuring fresh faces! #KKKDrama #comingsoon on #vasanthamTV
From what we can gather from the ensemble cast:
1. There's Tara, the heartbreaker, and Arun, who had this to say about life: "The secret to a happy life? Love yourself and make others happy,".
2. There's Lavyana, who rides a bike, plays guitar, and wants to achieve her dreams, and Satya, who insists men can be beautiful too.
Together, they make up the exciting new cast for Vasantham's next potential hit drama, KKK.
Here's how the trailers usually end.
And they are really doubling down on their acronym strategy, even coming up with a hashtag #KKKdrama.
This is also how they framed their latest teaser video:
Here's the video, in case you can't see it.
Here's Arush discovering the initial K from the swimming pool.
He then passes it off to Tara.
Tara smiles at the two Ks, stacks them up and passes them off to Satya.
Satya then raises up the final K, before breaking into a grin.
Before Lavyana flourishes it with a hashtag.
Before what looks like blood stained credits at the end of the shot.
Reactions
KKK, or Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithal, which roughly translates to "One Eye Steals Another", plays to the idea that eyes are the windows to your soul, so to steal a glance would theoretically be akin to stealing your heart.
Which is a rather beautiful concept, but commenters were a tad distracted by the name.
Also it's a Ramones song, cool.
What's the KKK?
The acronym KKK is recognisable even in these parts of the world as it is most often used as a stand in for the Ku Klux Klan, an American Far Right hate-group that's been around in various forms since the 1800's.
Here is what they are best known for wearing, at least in popular culture.
They are known for upholding white supremacist beliefs, where they view every other race as inferior to whites.
Their most atrocious acts came in the form of lynching African Americans, and burning crosses onto their front lawns, in a bid to terrorise and strike fear into the hearts of African Americans.
Catch KKK, the drama, soon on Vasantham.
