A 53-year-old Singaporean was caught in the late morning of Oct. 4 smoking duty-unpaid cigarettes in Bukit Merah Central.

Bad start to the day right?

Well, it was going to get worse.

Just 90 minutes later, while patrolling the same area, customs officers caught the same man smoking yet another duty-unpaid cigarette.

Surely that was it — day ruined, things definitely couldn't get worse.

Things got worse

The Customs officers did follow-up checks at his workplace and residence.

There, they found a total of three packets and 10 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes that belonged to the man.

According to the post:

The composition sum for a first-time offender who has up to one packet of duty-unpaid cigarettes in his possession is $500. Heavier penalties will apply if he is found with more than one packet of duty-unpaid cigarettes and/or if he is a repeat offender.

The man had previously committed similar offences in 2013 and 2015.

He was fined S$2,900 for his offences.

Welp.
