The Special Tactics And Rescue (STAR) Unit of the Special Operations Command (SOC) provides the SPF with the highest level of tactical armed response. As a STAR officer, you will be called upon to apprehend armed and dangerous criminals, rescue hostages, provide security coverage for key functions, provide close protection escort for high-risk prisoners and deal with any high risk criminal incidents within the Singapore Territorial Waters.

We will train and equip you for the job. You may also be selected and further developed to take on highly specialised roles such as Assaulter, Sniper or Assault Diver.

To be part of this elite tactical unit, you must be tenacious, resilient and be mentally and physically strong. You must also possess the ability to work in a team to achieve a common goal.

Here are the requirements

• PES status of A or B1 L1(for male applicants)

• 5 GCE 'O' Level credits or NITEC

• Normal colour vision

• Able to swim continuously for at least 50m using breaststroke

• Male applicants must have fulfilled their National Service liabilities. Those who are in full-time National Service (SPF/SAF/SCDF) will not be considered.

- Candidates who are selected will be placed on contract and undergo a two-month selection course.

- Candidates who pass the selection course will be emplaced onto the permanent scheme and embark on a seven-month course to be certified as STAR officers.
