Soaring rental prices have allegedly pushed Prince of Wales, a bar at Boat Quay, to fold.

The establishment is known for their Tuesday quiz nights, and live screenings of various sports events.

Past events include World Cup 2018, and the Khabib vs McGregor UFC fight that just took place on October 7:

Closing due to high rental prices

In a Facebook post on Oct. 8, Prince of Wales shared a letter announcing that their Boat Quay outlet has come to the end of its lease, and will be closing down.

They wrote that their "landlord has bumped up the rental to the tune of 35 per cent", and "it is simply not sustainable to continue operations".

This unfortunate move can be seen as part of a wider trend of rising operating costs in the F&B industry:

Bid farewell from Oct. 15-20

Prince of Wales Boat Quay sincerely thanked their customers for supporting them throughout the years, and invited patrons to "party hard with [them]" from October 15 to 20.

Members may also reach out to their managers for "special deals...at [their] other pubs".

Prince of Wales has another outlet in Little India, which remains open for business.
