Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is set to meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo when he visits Bali, Indonesia from Oct. 10 to 11 for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat.
Third time attending Leaders' Retreat with Joko Widodo
According to the Prime Minister's Office, this will be the PM Lee's third time attending the event with Widodo.
Previously in September 2017, they met at the Leader's Retreat to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
PM Lee will also be taking part in the Asean leaders gathering, as well as a moderated dialogue at the World Bank Group's (WBG) Third Annual Human Capital Summit.
He will be accompanied by other ministers including Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat and Education Minister Ong Ye Kung.
Several agreements & MOUs to be signed
At the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat, PM Lee and Widodo will look at the progress made in bilateral relations and discuss ways to further cooperation between the two countries.
They will also talk about regional and international developments.
In addition, they will witness the signing of the following agreements:
- Agreement between Singapore and Indonesia on the Promotion and Protection of Investments (Bilateral Investment Treaty)
- Cultural Cooperation Programme for the Years 2019 to 2021 Concerning Cooperation in the Fields of Arts and Heritage between the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Financial Technology Cooperation between the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority
Other MOUs will also be signed at the sidelines of the Leaders' Retreat:
- MOU on the Cooperation for Development and Implementation of Industry 4.0 between Enterprise Singapore and the Indonesian Ministry of Industry’s Agency for Research and Development of Industry
- MOU on the Programme for Financial Technology Learning for Higher Education Providers between Ngee Ann Polytechnic and the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education’s Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs
- An extension of the MOU concerning Cooperation on Human Resources Development of the Government Officers in the Maritime Field between the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation’s Directorate General of Sea Transportation
- MOU on Cruise Ships Calling at Various Ports in Indonesia between Genting Cruise Lines and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III

ASEAN Leaders' gathering
Along with Widodo, PM Lee will be co-chairing the ASEAN Leaders' gathering, which is held at the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the WBG.
Other ASEAN leaders, as well as the heads of the United Nations, IMF and WBG will be there at the gathering to discuss how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved and how the Development Gap can be reduced.
