A bug affecting Grab's app occurred on Oct. 25 in the afternoon.
This resulted in every ride to any destination to cost S$6.
Every single location.
From Pasir Ris to Tuas
Other areas
And even Malaysia to Singapore
Bonus: RM5 only.
30 minutes
The glitch appeared to last for less than 30 minutes, but saw very confused and angry drivers.
And very happy customers.
With some suggesting it might have been a glitch in display.
And others facing a not-so-unexpected outcome.
We tried booking a cab as well, and faced a similar situation.
A S$6 booking followed by confirmation, and then this.
It appears that the taxi prices were not affected during this kerfuffle.
Other countries affected too
This glitch appears to have affected other countries as well.
Indonesia:
Malaysia:
We have reached out to Grab for a statement.
*Update*
Here is a statement from a spokesperson from Grab.
"We experienced a glitch this afternoon that affected the computation of fares in the Grab app. The issue has been fully resolved and the Grab app is running normally now. We are investigating the cause of the glitch and we apologise to all our customers for the inconvenience caused.
We are grateful to our drivers who continued to take bookings during this period and will be compensating them for the lower fares than usual. We have also assured all drivers that their acceptance and cancellation rates were not affected by this glitch."
