Flag day, where volunteers help to raise funds for charity, is not an uncommon occurrence in Singapore.

However, it isn't often that we see volunteers bowing to thank people for their donations.

Polite volunteers are polite

Buddhist foundation Tzu Chi Singapore recently shared some photos of their flag day in a Facebook post.

And in these photos, their volunteers were spotted bowing close to 90 degrees to thank members of the public for their donations.

Check some of them out here:

Tzu Chi Singapore is a registered charity that raises funds to promote "organized charity activities, medical services, and humanistic education and culture in accordance with local society’s needs and demands".

Their flag day was held on October 27, from 7am to 5pm, at multiple locations island-wide.

Reminder to count blessings

In the comments section of their post, one netizen mentioned that they did not need to bow as "all of us are equal".

In response, Tzu Chi Singapore responded saying that their volunteers "bow respectfully, because they are grateful for the opportunity to serve and for reminding them to count their blessings".

Sweet learning point.
