Expected it to be more to be honest.

Mercer is the world's largest HR consulting firm.

According to Mercer's 2018 Singapore Employee Engagement Index, 54 percent of employees in Singapore believe they are fairly compensated.

The report took responses from more than 45,000 employees in Singapore.

According to HR Resources Online, that is in comparison to 59 percent of workers who felt they were fairly compensated in Asia Pacific (Asia-Pacific) and 56 percent globally.

Here are some of the other findings.

1. 69 percent of workers in Singapore felt the amount of work expected from them is reasonable, in comparison to 75 percent across APAC, and 71 percent globally.

2. 63 percent felt their career goals could be met at their current company, while 70 percent felt they had enough opportunity to continually learn and grow.

3. Employee engagement in Singapore has steadily declined over the last three years, which is at odds with the general upward trend worldwide.

Many also felt their work culture was limiting.

Also according to Mercer, only a small percentage of employees in Singapore "are reportedly enthusiastic about their organization. This is reflected in the data below where there is a stark difference in strongly favourable responses between employees in the APAC region and Singapore."

Upside

On the upside, there was a 3 per cent bump in employees willingness to stay at their company, but fewer employees are positive about recommending their companies as good places to work.

Employees also stated that they felt involved in decisions that impact their work, and, are generally proud to work for their company.

Cool.
