A job advertisement in the print edition of The Straits Times classifieds section has attracted tonnes of curious attention.

A screen shot of the ad has since been circulated online by Facebook page "FAS - Failing At Soccer" and has gone viral.

Job description

The job ad was originally posted in ST on Oct. 16 and 17.

The job description called for "helpers to chase away birds".

The location was listed as a cafe in "Tanah Merah Club".

The working hours are from 8am to 8pm, and 11am to 7pm on Thursdays, but the number of work days a week is unclear.

The most attractive aspect is the pay. It is between S$1,700 to S$1,900.

Interested applicants are invited to call the number listed.

Likely to be in Tanah Merah Country Club

The location, listed as "Tanah Merah Club", is likely to refer to Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC).

A quick search of TMCC yields several F&B establishments located within the club.

This includes the Poolside Cafeteria and Garden Golfer's Terrace.

Both of these establishments have outdoor seating, which may possibly explain why they require help to "chase birds":

Poolside Cafeteria, via TMCC's website.

Garden Golfer's Terrace, via TMCC.

Called number to check

Mothership called the number listed on the ad to find out more about the job and confirm details regarding its location in TMCC.

However, there was no response despite repeated calls made.

An attempt to reach Garden Golfer's Terrace regarding the job listing was redirected to the receptionist.

The attempt to reach the "General Main Line" listed on their website was met with no response.

After trying to call the number listed in the classified ad multiple times by Thursday afternoon, the line eventually could not go through and it was not engaged either.

It appears the phone number had been disconnected.

Reactions

In response to FAS's photo, many excited Singaporeans tagged their friends and expressed their excitement for such a job:

Cool.

This is the Facebook post:

The ST ad itself most likely costs S$52 to put up, at a cost of S$13 per printed line.
